Shih Tzu Poodles

Being a mixed breed of the Shih Tzu breed and the Poodle breed, the ShiPoo has the potential to have a multitude of characteristics. Some are more Shih Tsu, some are more Poodle, and some are somewhere in the middle.

The most affected aspects of the ShiPoo are the face and the coat. Shih Tzu have a shorter muzzle (which can cause beathing problems) than the Poodle does so the ShiPoo can be anywhere in between them. They can have a long straight coat or a short curly coat, or anything in between.

Whichever of the characteristics that are inherited, you can see how interesting it can be to have a combination of these two very popular dog breeds. Both are a max on the cute level, both are very intelligent, and both have a very good temperament and disposition. So these are some of the characteristics that you can expect in a ShiPoo:
  • 12 out of 10 on the cuteness scale (which as why they are nicknamed "Teddy Bears");
  • Fiercely indpendent and needy at the same time;
  • They love to be picked up, carried and petted, which is easy to do given their size;
  • They are very intelligent and easy to train, especially for simple commands such as "Come", "Sit" and "Let go";
  • They really like to lick your face and arms when you are holding them;
  • They are very agile, and can jump pretty high and run pretty fast for their size;
  • They love to chew on things, anything really, so they do not need expensive toys to play with;
